Developing the fruit of the Spirit should be one of the primary goals of every Christian who desires to walk in God’s power. Contrary to traditional teaching, however, the fruit of the Spirit is love. In the same way that an apple is composed of seeds, a stem, core and skin, the fruit of love is comprised of joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance (Galatians 5:22, 23).

The fruit of the Spirit, or love, was deposited in your spirit man when you became born again. It is your responsibility to cultivate that seedling so your love can be perfected and fear can be cast out of your life.

Long suffering is the part of the fruit of the Spirit that enables Believers to obtain the promises of the Word of God. Long suffering is “patient endurance.” “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swear by himself. Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise”  (Hebrews 6:12-15).

Abraham obtained the promise of God—his son, Isaac—after he had patiently endured. Likewise, as you diligently obey what God tells you to do in spite of your circumstances, you will see long suffering develop in your life. Abraham waited 25 years to receive the promise of God. Are you willing to wait that long?

Hebrews 10:36 says, “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Long suffering is an important quality to have if you want to see the promises of God manifest in your life. Do not give up, cave in or quit when you do not see the answers to your prayers right away. Know that if God said it, He will do it. In the meantime, make the most of the opportunity to develop your love by cultivating patient endurance, or long suffering.

Creflo Dollar: Your Words Have Power!

Your Words Have Power! - Creflo Dollar - Creflo Dollar MinistriesAuthor: Creflo Dollar

Words are seeds. In fact, whatever is in a seed must produce after its own kind. For example, an apple seed will produce apples. This principle is especially true where words are concerned. Words are a powerful force. Yet that force can be positive or negative. A situation can worsen when you speak negatively about it. By the same token, when you speak positive words, your circumstances will change for the better. This is because words are like the rudder of a ship. Once spoken, words begin to steer your life in a specific direction.

If you possess any doubt about how powerful words are, think about this for a moment: God created the heavens and the earth with words. Why is this significant? Because you are made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26), which means you are a ‘speaking spirit.’ You possess creative power and just like God, you create your world with your words!

My question to you is, what have you created with your words? The Bible tells us when a man guards his mouth and keeps his tongue, he keeps himself from trouble (Proverbs 21:23, Amplified Bible). Is your life full of trouble or strife? If so, it could be that idle words have played a powerful role, whether consciously or subconsciously. Idle words are words spoken but not believed. Jesus said in Matthew 12:36 that, “… men will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, nonworking) word they speak.” The fact that you will one day give an account for every idle word should motivate you to choose your words wisely!

A further demonstration of how powerful words are can be found in Proverbs 18:21, which tells us life and death are in the power of the tongue. Think about it. If your words have the power to shape circumstances, and you constantly speak death, you will eventually destroy your life. For example, examine your speech where your health is concerned. Do you speak faith—filled words of life over your physical body? Or do you say things like, “I will probably die of cancer. After all, it runs in my family.”?

This sort of speech turns on the death cycle and connects you to the very thing you do not want to happen. If you want to experience health or success in any area of your life, you must make the decision to turn on the life cycle, by searching the scriptures and declaring what the Word says about you. God’s Word produces life (Joshua 1:8)!

I have come to realize that nothing is more important than the words we speak. Therefore, we must never underestimate the power of our words, either through ignorance or neglect. Words are seeds, and good or bad, they will bring forth a harvest. Your words have creative power, so begin today to only speak words that produce life!

The Blueprint for a Changed Life!

Do you believe you will have what you say? If so, what words are you allowing to come out of your mouth? For instance, how do you talk when you are in non–religious settings, around people who are not Christians? Do you evaluate your words, or do you just “shoot the breeze,” so you will not appear too “deep” to others?

I want you to take stock of your words, because whether you realize it or not, your life is the sum total of all the words you have spoken. Your words set the very tone for your life. In fact, so powerful are your words, that you can literally talk your way into victory or defeat.

Some of you may say, “It is not that serious. I have spoken a lot of things that have never come to pass.” But as I like to say, if you have been spared negative or tragic situations, it is because of the grace and mercy of God, and the power of intercession! Somewhere, God has somebody praying for you!

The reason your words carry so much weight is because you are created in the image and likeness of God Himself. Your words have creative power, just like God’s words. When you speak forth words you actually release a spiritual force like dynamite! That is how serious this thing is! If you have spoken negative words in the past, you can change the course of your life right now by speaking positive words.

Psalm 45:1 states “… my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer” (New International Version). This means when you speak words, you are writing them on your heart; and whatever is conceived in your heart will eventually come out of your mouth and manifest in your life.

Why am I hammering this point home so hard? Because the only way to change your life is to change the way you think and speak. Your mouth should be used as an instrument for life, not death. For blessing, not cursing.

To begin this process, take inventory of your words. How do you speak every day? Listen to yourself. If you constantly use perverse or negative words, repent. Make a course–correction by allowing faith in God’s Word to impact your speech. How do you develop faith in His Word? By confessing it, every single day. Also, make the decision to root out any sin that may be present in your life. Remember, you can say all the right things, but secret sin in your life will separate you from God. Be quick to forgive and quick to repent.

One of the reasons Jesus was so powerful when He walked the Earth, was because He only spoke faith–filled words. As a result, He experienced immediate manifestation when He spoke. This is why powerful, positive words are the blueprint for a changed life! Take heed to these practical truths and before long, you will be enjoying life and seeing good days!
